Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 2 lbs ground beef or beef–pork blend
  • 2 tbsp cottage cheese
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tbsp herb & garlic seasoning
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ bunch green onion chopped

Gravy

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 jar Heinz beef gravy
  • 1 tsp Better Than Bouillon beef base
  • ½ onion thinly sliced

Sautéed Veggies

  • 1 pint mushrooms diced
  • 1-2 tbsp butter

Instructions

Make the Meatballs

  • In a large bowl, mix together ground meat, cottage cheese, seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, and green onion until just combined. Roll into medium-sized meatballs.

Sauté the Veggies

  • In a large skillet, melt butter. Add diced onion and mushrooms. Cook 6–8 minutes until softened and browned. Remove and set aside.

Brown the Meatballs

  • In the same skillet, sear the meatballs on all sides over medium-high heat until browned but not fully cooked.

Add the Gravy

  • Whisk together cream of mushroom soup, Heinz beef gravy, and Better Than Bouillon. Pour over the meatballs. Add the sliced onions on top.

Simmer

  • Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 20–25 minutes until the meatballs are fully cooked and the gravy is thick and rich.

Serve

  • Spoon the sautéed mushrooms and onions over the meatballs. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
