2-Ingredient Mozzarella Sticks
These 2-ingredient mozzarella sticks are the ultimate lazy snack hack. Gooey melted cheese wrapped in buttery puff pastry and baked (or air-fried) until golden and crisp? Yes, please. No messy breading stations, no freezing needed, and zero fuss. Just roll, bake, and dip.

Perfect for after-school snacks, party trays, or just when that cheesy craving hits. You only need two things and about 10 minutes.
Before you get started
Use pre-made puff pastry (Jus-Rol works great and doesn’t even need to be thawed) and classic string cheese sticks. Make sure to fully seal the tops and bottoms of each stick so the cheese doesn’t leak out while cooking.
If you’re baking, let the oven preheat fully so the pastry puffs up right. If you’re air frying, space them out so they crisp evenly.
What You Need To Make 2-Ingredient Mozzarella Sticks
You’ll find the exact amounts in the recipe card, but here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 8 to 10 mozzarella string cheese sticks
Optional: marinara or pizza sauce for dipping
How To Make 2-Ingredient Mozzarella Sticks
1
Start by unrolling your puff pastry sheet. Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice it into 1-inch wide strips.
2
Wrap each mozzarella stick with a strip of pastry, sealing all sides (especially the ends) so the cheese stays inside while baking or air frying.
3
To bake: Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
To air fry: Set the air fryer to 385°F and cook for about 7 minutes, or until the tops are browned and the cheese is melted.
Let them cool slightly before dipping into your favorite marinara or pizza sauce.
