Ingredients

  • 1 lb Blue Runner Great Northern Beans soaked and rinsed
  • 16 oz diced smoked ham cubed
  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage ground
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 large yellow onion diced
  • 3 stems of green onions diced
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp of sun dried tomatoes with the oil
  • 32 oz chicken broth
  • Optional: 1/4 cup half and half or heavy cream

Instructions

  • Rinse and drain your beans, overnight soaking is optional. But I like to soak at least 30 minutes to help speed up the cooking process
  • In a pot melt your butter and sauté your onions and green onions
  • Add in your sausage and ham, let it cool until done. Add in your spices, tomato paste, sundried tomato’s, and let it cook together 5 minutes.
  • Add in your beans and broth, cover and cook on medium for 2 hours or until your beans are tender.
  • Add in the optional cream for a creamy taste!
